I’ve been asked recently why I have my Etsy shop, and why I put so much energy into it.

Simply put – our economy sucks, and for every job out there you will find more than a dozen candidates – all fantastic, and some well over-qualified.  That’s the way of the world right now.  It’s pushing many folks to try to find an out let in a different direction, and for those that have the capital it has enabled the following of their dreams.  The Etsy shop is helping out with the little expenses that are necessary… a trip to the grocery store or two, a late bill that HAS to be paid… all these things and more.

Me – in my retirement (Unless I win the PowerBall) and providing there is still enough of a demand for it, I will have my own little MicroMill for fiber processing.  I’ve shared pics of the site I’d like to use before, and have had the same reaction from readers as I had when I first saw the location.  It’s something akin to “OMG – WANT NOW!”  I would love to get into it now, but practicality rears it’s head and says I’m not one of those folks who’ve got the ability to chase that dream for now.

That said – I’m persuing positions in my field with zest.  I LOVE manging people, and the QA Test process, and if I can’t be persuing fiber arts, you’ll find me deep in the QA process making sure that software works the way it’s supposed to.  It’s fun, and something I truly have space in my heart for.

Tomorrow and Monday at three pm respectively I interview for a new position.  I won’t be out spinning at Starbucks tonight as I’m putting my business suit through the wash, washing my hair, and printing out paperwork that is needed for this opportunity.

So while my suit goes through the washer tonight I’ll be spinning at home.  Nothing fancy – no Iced Carmel Macchiatto for me – but hey I’ll get to watch Burn Notice and Royal Pains as they air, vs catching them on the DVR.  Can’t complain about that.

Now – off to wash my peach shell, and my grey knit suit.  Oh and maybe throw dinner on the grill ;-) I need to get ready to be that one in 12 (if not more) that lands the job.
