I was raised by a very creative pair of parents, both impressing the value of self sufficiency upon me from a very young age.

The granddaughter of farmers on both sides of my family, I was surrounded by activities that reinforced the need for self sufficiency as well. My grandmothers both made their own jams, jellies, and put up preserves and my paternal grandma was amazing with sewing quilts and crocheting.

Where I draw creative inspiration from.

She left a deep mark on me and while I live in the suburbs these days, my rural Northern Michigan roots still run deep.

I am a mom of two, married to their wonderful Daddy for over a decade, we are home-schoolers and the entire family benefits from what we do educationally.  They teach us as we teach them.

Professionally I work in Software Development as a Quality Assurance Analyst/Manager.  Day to day responsibility can include deciphering the level of risk that introducing a bug into software actually used by folks and stopping it before it gets there, to managing a team of software testers who find the weak points in an application.  If you are interested in seeing my professional resume, drop me a line as I am open to considering whatever options present themselves.

Spinning keeps me grounded, and the fiber arts truly make me smile.  I can walk into a building and if their new carpet is actually natural fiber, I can spot it in a moment… Drop spindles can be found in all corners of my house, and my guest room presently has over 5,000 yards of roving that is yet to be spun in it.

I love dying both roving and finished yarn, and have a decent sized stash of acid dyes.  Stick around to see what I get into next, it’s never boring!
